So, there you go, the CPE, that first job contract, has been buried this morning by our national ChiChi.
A lot of protests in France, all over, but also an interesting article in The Guardian about the 400 000 French people who live and work in the UK. 400 000! Can you believe that? And there are 15 000 new arrivals per year!!
So, it seems that some French people are not that scared of that Anglo-Saxo liberal model!
But then again, the CPE may have been a bit too far.
Probation period here in the UK goes up to 3 months, not 2 years.
And employers, contrary to popular belief in Europe, cannot fire you just like that without particular reasons. Just like in France, you get a first warning, then an official letter, a meeting with your manager, and then, if after all this you havent made the efforts to be better, then you are fired. So you have time to see it coming!
And, as someone says in that article, people are actually not that fussed about losing or changing jobs.
So rather than a more flexible law, la France a besoin de gens a l'esprit plus flexible, France needs people with a more flexible mind.
Bloody hell I sound so right-wing! HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
